Installing lights in the soffit or ceiling is the modern and efficient way of creating security lighting and  safety lighting.    These lights can be operated by a single sensor and/or operated manually.  The lights in this range are corrosion resistant and the more expensive such as the Elite have extreme weather resistance,

The lights in the photo above and right are Copper R672 halogen lights with 50 watt bulbs.  The fitting is inserted into a round hole in the soffit and held in place by spring clips. 

The 12 volt halogen lights need a transformer to operate on the mains.  Each light should have its own transformer which is placed inside the soffit.
