Taiwanese made MR16 LED lamps of 7 watts power, The warm white version gives off 410 lumens, the cool white gives 470 lumens for comparison a 35 watt halogen gives off about 500 lumen.
The cone of light from thr bulb has a beam angle of 30 degrees.
The 30 degree beam is slightly narrower than the standard halogen 38 degree beam so if the fittings are spaced more closely the light levels achieved will be similar.
The lamp life is given conservatively at 20,000 hours but the theoretical life exceeds 35,000 hours.
There are two colours available:
Warm White 2600-3300K This is the same as a normal interior light, great for relaxing.
Cool White 5300-7000K. This is a whiter, sharper light, great for work spaces and activity.
The bulbs are cool running but, because of heat build up, do not use these in fully enclosed fittings, such as exterior spotlights, - no danger - but the bulb life will be shortened dramatically. For this purpose use the 5 watt LED
The bulbs work on a voltage range of 12 to 18 volts AC which avoids damage from power surges. If they are used with DC they work on 12 to 24 volts making them ideal for a solar power system.
If you are using these on mains power the most suitable type of transformer is a magnetic transformer which can power up to 6 of these bulbs. Both electronic and magnetic transformers need a minimum load, usually 20 watts,. At loads below this the electronic transformer will often not fire up.
The magnetic will work, but will put out a higher voltage, this will be OK as it will be within the bulbs range.
