Halogen lamps have about 99% inert gas and about 1% halogen vapour. For efficiency the filament needs to be very hot and the inert gas should not conduct this heat away. The usual inert gas is Argon or Krypton. The most effective is Xenon although this is the most expensive, it gives a vastly increased lamp life.
This lamp (bulb) is in all respects a normal halogen bulb except that the inert gas used is Xenon.
This bulb is 50 watts and has a 38 degree beam.
Though more expensive these lamps are good value in fittings where changing bulbs is difficult.
