Amorphous solar panels are relatively cheap to produce but are not as efficient as a crystalline silicon cell. They have an efficiency in converting sunlight to electricity of 6% to 8% and consequently are up to twice the size of a crystalline panel for the same power

The crystalline solar panels are made from thin slices of silicon while the amorphous cells are a doped silicon powder coated onto glass.  Both the mono and polycrystalline panels have an efficiency of 12% to 15% and are both rugged and will last up to twenty years
